Sometimes a raw Forge output may have deformities or unwanted artefacts. To fix these, you can easily change any area of your image by selecting an area and forging.
How do I make a selection?
Layer provides multiple tools for selection: Lasso, Marquee, Object-Selection.
1. Lasso
Lasso tools is a freehand selection tool. You can pick any part of your image:
Hit
L
to enable lasso selection.Hold

to add to your existing selection.Hold
ALT
to remove from your existing selection.Hit
CTRL-D
to deselect/cancel your selection.
2. Marquee
Marquee tool helps you make rectangular shape selection:
Hit
M
to enable marquee selection.Hold

to add to your existing selection.Hold
ALT
to remove from your existing selection.Hit
CTRL-D
to deselect/cancel your selection.
3. Object-selection
Object detection tool helps automatically detect each part of the object in a given image
Hit W to enable object-selection
Click on the area you would like to select
Hold
SHIFT
to add new areas to your existing selection.Hold

to remove from your existing selection.Hit
CTRL-D
to deselect/cancel your selection.
What do I do after I have selected an area?
1. Add details
a. Without using the brush
If you want to add details to your images like an animal, a house or an object:
Select the area you want to add your details.
Input what you want to see in the prompt box like
a wolf
.Reduce Image Similarity to 0. This step is important as we want Layer to ignore the pixels under our selected area.
Choose your style from Prompt area.
Hit Forge.
And the results will be as:
Quick tip: if this method is not giving you the results you are looking for you can click on Advanced settings bar and increase the pixel density to provide more reference pixels.
b. Using the brush
If you want to add details to your creations, let's say a golden handle to your chest.
Color pick the area you want to add your details.
Use the brush tool and draw your details
Select the area using Marquee and Lasso tool
Write your prompt in the prompting box such as
a golden handle
as shown below.Image Similarity will be automatically set at 50%. You can reduce it or increase it. Higher will make AI create something similar to your exact drawing.
Choose your style from Prompt area.
Hit Forge.
2. Remove Details
There are few ways to remove unwanted details in your images. To remove them:
Method 1:
Select the object you want to remove from your image.
Clear your prompt.
Image Similarity will be at 1% by default no need to change.
Hit Forge
Method 2:
Use object detection tool to detect an area you want to change
Hold shift key to keep your selection
Click on Erase the selection
Select the area using Lasso or Marquee Tools
Refill transparent pixels
Method 3:
Pick the same color as your background
Cover the area you'd love to get rid of using the brush tool
Select the area using Lasso or Marquee Tools
Type your prompt
3. Create Variations
When you want to generate variations of a part of an image:
Select the area with Lasso or Marquee tool.
Describe the variations in the prompt.
Set Similarity. The default setting for this is 50%. Making it higher will results in a very similar variation and lower will allow AI to get creative.
Hit Forge and keep forging.
