At Layer, we're always thinking about the artist first. Our mission is clear: to empower game studios with tools that serve every need, from concept to scale. As we continue to grow, we’re laser-focused on creating solutions that put creativity, control, and collaboration into the hands of artists.

What’s your future roadmap?

Layer aims to be the best creative suite for creating and scaling games. We have a packed and exciting roadmap to help game studios of any size scale content production. Please find our near term roadmap below:

Video v1

Video generation tools to support marketing and promotional needs, helping studios showcase their games with eye-catching video content

  • Access to state of art video models: Hunyuan, Kling, Minimax, Veo2.

  • Simple video focused on user acquisition and marketing assets (video ads, app store assets, etc)

  • Use of generated 2D assets in video content on Layer.

Next up?

  • Identify key frames to guide generations, camera controls, motion brush, upscale and ability to composite video assets on Layer.

Q4, 2024

3D v1

Simplify the 3D process without sacrificing quality, keeping artists focused on what they do best: creating.

  • Access to the state of art 3d generation models: TripoAI. Rodin by Deemos, Trellis by Microsoft.

  • Ability to create high-quality 3D models based on prompts and reference images.

Next up?

  • Generate complex models with ease, then (eventually) auto-rig and animate creations within the same toolset.

  • More models to be added to the stack

Q4, 2024

2D improvements

Expand our already leading 2D tools to cover every professional usecase imaginable. (Yes, even whatever you're thinking!)

  • Enhanced creation features like vector exports.

  • Ability to customize the batch size for generations

  • Refine tool for batch operations such as upscale, remove background, vectorization

What's next?

  • Multi-reference guided workflows

  • Color-guided generations that offer greater control over asset creation.

  • Expression generator and poser V2.

Q1, 2025

Video improvements

  • Video Upscale tool to increase the quality of videos

  • Identify key frames to guide generations

  • Camera controls

  • Motion brush

  • Ability to composite video assets on Layer.

Q2, 2025

Animation v1

Bringing characters to life is a crucial step in game development, and we’re expanding our capabilities to support this.

  • Lipsync animations for characters along with Audio support

  • Simple animations for 3D models within Layer, before export into game engine.

What's next?

  • 2D Spine and sprite exports

  • In-flow ability to animate 2D sprites with text

Q2, 2025

Audio v1

In addition to visual content, we believe that sound is a critical element of immersive game experiences.

  • Seamless tools for generating soundscapes and character voices, all within the same artist-first ecosystem.

Q2, 2025

API (Unity)

Continuation of our partnership with Unity Muse - more robust integrations that make working between Layer and Unity easy and seamless.

  • API support that will allow deeper integration into game development pipelines.

  • Artists will be able to plug Layer into existing workflows, enabling more powerful and flexible content generation within their favorite tools.

Q2, 2025

Enterprise & Administration

Features are designed to scale with the needs of AAA studios and beyond.

  • Advanced Enterprise-grade administration tools, billing management that offer control over workflows.

  • Large-scale asset management familiar to studios with 100s or 1000s of developers and artists.
