Set up scoring rules for a workspace or project

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Write the standards your assets are scored against, for the whole workspace or for one project, and choose which score every tile shows.

Before you start

  • Workspace rules need a role that can manage workspace settings, such as Admin. Project rules need the Edit content policy permission, which Admin, Editor and Art Director have. See Invite teammates and set their roles.
  • Have the approved art for the standard in the library: a handful of finished assets that meet it. They become the rule's reference images.
  • Scoring is billed per judgement. See Output scoring for what a score costs and when it runs.

Set a workspace rule

Workspace rules apply to every project and session in the workspace.

  1. Open the workspace menu, choose Workspace Settings, then select Output Scoring under AI Controls. A workspace with no rules shows No scoring rules yet. Assets are generated without being scored.

  2. Select + Scoring rule. A rule called New scoring rule appears. Click its name and type one that says what it checks, for example House style.

  3. Under What you're looking for, describe the standard as you would brief a new artist: what a passing asset shows, and what rules it out. Select Save.

  4. Under Reference images, select Add images, pick up to ten approved assets from the library, and confirm. They are sent with every scoring call, so the judge compares against your art rather than a generic idea of good. The rule saves them as soon as you confirm.

  5. Choose Always to score every new image, video and 3D model as it is generated, or leave On demand to score only when someone asks. The choice saves straight away.

  6. Select the star beside the rule to make it the headline score. The rule shows Headline score, and its number is the one stamped on every asset's tile and used by the library's Score sort and filter.

Add a project rule

A project adds its own checks on top of the workspace's. Use it for what only that project needs: its hero character, a licensed partner's guidelines, a campaign's look.

  1. Open the project, select the gear beside its name to open Project settings, and scroll to Content policy. Under Output scoring, Inherited from the workspace lists the workspace's rules and whether each runs Always or On demand. You cannot change them here.

  2. Select + Scoring rule and name the new rule, for example Warden on model.

  3. Under What you're looking for, describe the standard, then select Save.

  4. Add the reference images that define it, such as the character's approved turnaround.

  5. Choose Always or On demand, and star the rule if this project's tiles should show its score rather than the workspace's headline.

Check that it works

  1. Generate an image in a session (in the project, for a project rule). With an Always rule, its score appears in the tile's corner a few seconds after the image lands.

  2. Open the asset. Under Policy scores, each rule in force shows its score and the reason. For an On demand rule, select Score now. See Score an asset and read its scores.

  3. If the scores do not match what your art director would say, sharpen the wording or swap the reference images, then score the same assets again.

Production tips

  • Calibrate before you switch on Always. Leave a new rule on On demand, score ten assets your art director has already graded, and adjust until the bands agree. Then move it to Always.
  • One standard per rule. Separate house style, on-model accuracy and IP clearance into three rules, so a middling result tells you which one failed. Scoring rule examples has wording to start from.
  • Choose reference images that agree. Five assets that all show the standard beat ten that disagree. Leave out work you would not ship.
  • Put cost where it pays. Every Always rule is a judgement on every generation. Keep one or two on Always (usually the headline) and run the rest On demand before hand-off.
  • Use projects for what changes. Keep the studio's lasting standards at the workspace and put a campaign's or a licensor's rules on its project, where they apply only to that project's work.
  • Bring old work up to date. Editing a rule does not change existing scores. After a change, use Re-score the library on the same page. See Filter, sort and re-score assets by score.

If something goes wrong

  • There is no + Scoring rule button, or the fields cannot be edited. Your role cannot author rules at this level. Ask an admin, or for a project rule, someone with Edit content policy. An archived project's rules are read-only.
  • New assets show no score. Check that a rule is set to Always and starred as the headline. Uploads are not scored automatically: open the asset and select Score now. Audio is never scored.
  • Scores feel arbitrary. The rule is probably checking several things at once or describing intent rather than what is visible. Split it, describe what a passing asset looks like, and add reference images.
  • Failed to save the scoring rule. Reload the page and save again. If it repeats, contact support with the rule's name.
