Edit text in an image

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Change text that is painted into an image, such as a price on a store banner or a label on a button, without redrawing the art around it.

Before you start

  • The image is in a session, or in your library ready to add to one.
  • Each edit costs Creative Units. The cost depends on the model you choose.

Steps

  1. You run this from the image's full-size view, so start by putting the image on the board. In the session, press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and choose Add asset….

  2. Select the image, then click Select 1 asset. It lands on the board.

  3. Hover the image on the board and click View to open it full-size.

  4. Click the box under the image (Describe the change you want) and say what the text should change to and what must stay, for example: Change the price to 900. Leave the plaque, the art and the border exactly as they are.

  5. Click the purple button at the right end of the box (Edit image).

  6. Wait while the edit runs. The viewer stays open, and the new version appears in the strip beside the original.

Result

The edited image opens in the viewer as a new file, with the new text in place of the old. The original is unchanged: both sit in the strip on the left of the viewer, newest first, and the new file is also added to the session's board.

Production tips

  • Quote the exact text. Write the new wording exactly as it should read, including capitals and punctuation, and name the old text if the image has several lines (change "1200" in the gold plaque to "900").
  • Use the dedicated tool for longer copy. Edit text in image in the Actions panel takes the replacement in a New text field and is built for rewriting or removing text.
  • Localizing a banner? Translate text in image rewrites the text in another language. To clear text and rebuild what was behind it, use Remove text from image.
  • Keep the text the same length where you can. A replacement that fits the space the old text used holds the layout better than one that has to reflow.
  • Zoom in before you ship. Check spelling, kerning and the edges of the lettering at full size; small type is where generated text is most likely to slip.
  • Running a sale across several banners? Use the same prompt on each so the results match, or build it into a workflow that edits every banner at once.
  • Prices change often? Keep a version of the banner with no text (see Remove text from image) and set live prices in the game's UI instead of in the art.

If something goes wrong

  • The text is misspelled or the digits are wrong. Run the edit again from the original with the exact text in quotes, or try another model from the model menu next to the prompt.
  • The art around the text changed. Add what must stay the same to the prompt, or use Inpaint image and paint over the text only.
  • The edit failed. The new version shows the failure in the strip. Try again; if it fails again, change the prompt or the model.
  • You are out of Creative Units. The edit will not start. Top up from your workspace's billing settings, or ask a workspace admin.
