Using the Marquee Tool in Canvas

How to use the marquee tool inside the Layer canvas for selecting and forging new elements.

Updated over a week ago

The Marquee Tool lets you select and edit specific rectangular areas of your canvas with AI-assisted precision. It’s ideal for isolating parts of your asset you want to regenerate, remix, or enhance without affecting the rest of your work.

How to Use the Marquee Tool

Select the Tool & Make a Selection
Click the Marquee icon from the Canvas toolbar. Left-click and drag to draw a selection over the area you want to modify. To add more areas, hold Shift and left-click-drag again.

Enter Your Prompt
In the prompt box, describe the change you’d like to see. Make sure to choose the correct style from your style options.

Adjust Similarity for Better Results
To give the AI more freedom to reinterpret the selected area, lower the Similarity setting to below 50. A lower similarity allows for greater variation and creativity within the selected region.

Forge the Result

Click Forge to generate new variations within the marquee selection.

From the Forge results, select your favorite version and click Accept to apply it directly onto the current layer in your canvas session.
