Using the Lasso Tool in Canvas

How to use the lasso tool to select, make adjustments to game scenes, and forge new elements.

Updated over a week ago

The Lasso Tool lets you make freehand selections within your canvas session to modify or improve specific areas of an asset. It’s designed for flexibility and precision - ideal when you need full control over which part of the image you want to change.

Use the Lasso Tool to draw a custom selection around any part of your image. Once selected, you can prompt AI to apply targeted changes inside that area without affecting the rest of the asset.

How It Works

Select the Lasso Tool from the toolbar. Then Click and drag to draw a freehand selection around the area you want to modify.

Enter your prompt in the prompt field, clearly describing what you want the AI to do (e.g., “make the sky brighter,” or “add a red cape to the character”).

Adjust the similarity setting if needed. Lower similarity gives the AI more creative flexibility within your selection.

Click Forge in Selected Area. The AI will generate options based on your prompt.

Review the results, then select your preferred option and click Accept to apply it to your layer.

Best Practices

  • Use the Lasso Tool for irregular or organic shapes that don’t fit neatly into rectangles or circles.

  • Keep your selection tight around the area you want changed to help the AI focus.

  • If the output doesn’t match your intended style, consider adding an art style reference in your prompt.

  • For more variation, try different similarity settings or re-forge with an updated prompt.
