The Mask Selection Tool gives you precise control over which parts of your image you want to modify. Using this tool, you can paint a custom selection area and guide AI to make targeted changes, especially useful for subtle updates like color shifts or detailed refinements.
See how to mask, prompt, and refine your image using AI for accurate edits and visual improvements.
Overview
Mask Selection allows you to “paint” the area you want the AI to affect. This is ideal when you need exact boundaries or want to avoid affecting nearby parts of the image. The mask defines where the AI should apply your prompt, while the rest of the image remains untouched.
How It Works
Select the Mask Selection Tool from the toolbar.
Paint your selection directly onto the image. This defines the area you want to change. To erase part of your mask, hold CTRL + Left Mouse Button and drag across the unwanted mask area.
Once the mask is set, enter your prompt, clearly describing the change you want the AI to apply.
Lower the Similarity setting, especially if you're changing colors. This gives the AI more flexibility to apply your prompt creatively within the masked area.
Click Forge in Selected Area to generate AI-modified results. Select the result you prefer, then click Accept to apply it to your canvas. |
Best Practices
Use this tool when working with precise edits, such as adjusting small details or color tones.
CTRL + LMB lets you refine your mask with precision, helping avoid overlap or stray marks.
Lowering Similarity is especially effective for color-based changes.
Combine this with well-phrased prompts to guide the AI effectively (e.g., “change the dress color to royal blue,” or “make this area metallic and reflective”).
