Refer a friend to Layer

Share your referral link with someone new to Layer. When they subscribe, you each get 25% of their first month as Creative Units.

Before you start

  • You need to be an admin of the workspace.

  • The workspace needs to be on a paid plan. Enterprise workspaces aren't part of this program.

  • Referrals needs to be switched on in Workspace Settings, Programs. It is on unless an admin switched it off.

Steps

  1. Open the workspace menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Refer a friend. This opens Programs in Workspace Settings, at Referrals.

  2. Under Refer a friend, select Create referral link.

  3. Read the Referral Program Terms linked in the window that opens, then select Agree and create link.

  4. Select the copy button next to your link, and send it to someone who's new to Layer.

Result

When the person you referred signs up through your link and starts a paid subscription, your workspace and theirs each get 25% of their first month's subscription fee as Creative Units. The units are added to both workspaces automatically, within 30 days. Nobody needs to claim them.

Your link never changes. Select Refer a friend again whenever you want to copy it. Below the link, Your referrals shows how many people signed up with it, how many subscribed, and the Creative Units you have received and have on the way. It shows totals only: who signed up stays private to them.

Example

You send your link to a friend at another studio. They sign up through it and start a monthly subscription. Within 30 days, a quarter of what they paid for that first month arrives in your workspace as Creative Units, and the same amount arrives in theirs. Refer three friends who subscribe, and you earn it three times.

Production tips

  • Use the copy button rather than retyping the link. The copied link is the complete one.

  • A workspace has one referral link, shared by all of its admins.

  • For an annual plan, the reward is based on one month of the subscription.

  • The reward is based on what the person actually paid for their first month, after any discount.

  • Rewards are paid only in Creative Units, never in cash or any other form of payment.

If something goes wrong

  • You don't see Refer a friend. Only admins see it, and only in workspaces that can refer: on a paid plan, not enterprise, and with Referrals switched on in Workspace Settings, Programs. Ask an admin of your workspace, or switch to a workspace you administer.

  • Someone signed up, but no Creative Units arrived. They need to open your link before they sign up, and start a paid subscription within 90 days of signing up. The units arrive within 30 days of their first payment.

  • The referral was canceled. If the person cancels and gets a refund within those 30 days, neither workspace receives the units.

  • The person already uses Layer. Only people new to Layer count as referrals.
