Build a workflow with the agent
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Describe a pipeline in chat and the agent builds it as a workflow on the canvas, ready for you to refine, publish and run again.
Before you start
The agent builds and edits a private draft. Nobody else sees the workflow until you publish it, and publishing is a step you take yourself.
Running the workflow, including a test run the agent starts for you, costs Creative Units. See Creative Units.
The agent builds from the same nodes you use on the canvas. To know what it can put in a workflow, see Workflow nodes.
Steps
On Home, describe the workflow you want and send it: what goes in, what each step does, and what comes out. For example, "Build me a workflow that turns an ability description into a square game icon in our flat painted style." A session opens, and the agent creates an empty workflow, names it and shows an Open workflow card.
Click Open on the card. The workflow opens on the canvas in the same session, marked Draft, with the chat beside it. The composer shows Scoped to and the workflow's name: what you ask next applies to this workflow.
Watch the agent build it. While it works, the canvas glows purple and a pill at the top reads Agentic autopilot with the step it is on; the canvas is locked until it finishes. When it is done, it lays the nodes out and says in the chat what it built.
Ask for changes in the chat, in your own words: add a step, swap the order, change a setting. To let people fill something in when they run the workflow, say so, as in "make the ability description the input people fill in". The agent edits the draft and the canvas updates as it goes.
When it does what you want, click Publish at the top right. On the Inputs step, the inputs the agent made are already listed with their Default. Click another node on the canvas to add it as an input.
Click Next. On the Outputs step, the output the agent set up is already picked: the files the last step makes.
Click Next, check the Name, add a Description that says what the workflow is for, and click Publish workflow.
Result
The label at the top right changes to Published, and the workflow appears on the Workflows page for your workspace. Anyone in the workspace can run it with their own inputs, as in Find and run a workflow, or ask the agent in any session to run it by name. The canvas and the chat stay in the session, so you can come back and ask for more changes.
Production tips
Brief it like a pipeline. Name the inputs, the steps in order and the deliverable: "a character description in, a front view, then a turnaround from that view, then the background removed". A brief that names the art style, the size or the model gets those settings on the nodes. Write a brief for the agent covers the rest.
Test before you publish. Ask the agent to "run it once". It prices the run, asks you to approve the larger ones with an Approve generation card, and starts the draft; results land on the nodes and under Runs and outputs. You can also click Run yourself, as in Build and publish a workflow.
Let it look for a template first. Before building from scratch, the agent checks the featured workflows. When one already does the job, it offers to open that one instead; open it to run it as it is, or ask the agent to change it, and it makes an editable copy in your workspace first (Make an editable copy).
Expose only what changes. The agent keeps fixed values (the style prompt, sizes, models) on the canvas and makes inputs only when you ask. Ask for an input only for what people change per run, so every run comes out the same way.
Gate the expensive steps. For a pipeline that ends in video or 3D, ask the agent to "keep only the images that match our style guide" before that step. It adds a quality gate that scores each image against your rules, so weak candidates never reach the costly step.
Edit a published workflow the same way. Open it in a session and ask the agent for the change. It moves you onto a new draft first; the workspace keeps using the published version until you publish again.
Fine-tune by hand. The agent picks a recommended model for each step. Change it, or any other setting, on the node itself; the agent sees your edits the next time you ask it for something.
If something goes wrong
The agent did not build anything. It builds only once the workflow is open. If you clicked Cancel on the Open workflow card, the empty workflow is still on the Workflows page: open it, or ask the agent again in the chat.
You cannot click on the canvas. The agent is still editing. Wait for the Agentic autopilot pill to go, then carry on.
The agent says a node needs a model. It found no model for that step and left Select model on the node. Choose one there, or tell the agent which model to use.
The test run did not start. The workspace does not have enough Creative Units for it. The agent says so in the chat; top up, then ask again.
Publish workflow is greyed out. The panel says what is missing: Pick at least one output to publish. or Name your workflow to publish.
