Build a playable ad with the agent

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Have the agent build a playable ad for your game: it asks what the game should be, builds it, and hands you an HTML playable you can play and tweak in the session. Use it to turn a core mechanic into an interactive ad without writing the code yourself.

Before you start

  • Building a playable spends Creative Units, and generated art or sound adds to it. The agent shows the estimate before it starts: see pricing.
  • To use your own art, have it in your library or on your computer: sprites, a backdrop, a logo, or concept art. The agent asks about it when the build starts.

Steps

  1. On Home, under Tools, select Create playables. A session opens and the agent starts on the job, asking what it needs to know.

  2. Answer the agent's questions. The card has a tab for each thing that decides the build, such as the game, what it is about, where the art comes from and the sound. Pick an option on each, or select Other and type your own answer.

  3. Select Submit answers. The agent sums up the build it will make: the genre's rules it picked, the art and the end card.

  4. Check the estimate on the Approve generation card and select Approve. The agent hands the build to its playable code generator, and the board holds a tile saying what is being built.

  5. Wait for the playable to land on the board. A build takes longer than an image; you can leave the session and come back.

  6. Select the playable to open it, then select the play button to play it in the viewer.

Result

A single HTML file on the session board and in your library. The viewer plays it, and its Actions panel has Download, Copy link and a code to scan to open it on your phone.

Remix a playable

  • Start from one of Layer's playables. On Home, scroll to Explore and filter to Playable. Right-click a playable and select Remix: a session opens with the playable attached, and the agent reskins it for your game.
  • Start from your own. Attach your HTML playable in the agent's composer with Add to prompt then Attach files or photos, and ask the agent to reskin it, keeping the mechanic and swapping the art and the end card.

Production tips

  • Attach your game's finished art with the first message. The agent uses as much of it as the game fits and only asks about what is missing, usually the backdrop.
  • Ask for changes in the viewer's Ask for a tweak field, or in the chat: the board size, the move count, the colours, the difficulty or the end card.
  • Scan the code in the Actions panel and play it on a phone before you ship. Touch targets and text size read differently on a real screen.
  • When research would help (a competitor's ad, a game the playable should feel like), name it in the brief. The agent asks whether you will attach material or want it researched on the public web.

If something goes wrong

  • The build is taking a long time. The code generator can take many minutes to write a playable. The tile on the board stays until it lands, and the build keeps going if you leave the session.
  • The game isn't the one you meant. Tell the agent what to change in the chat, naming the mechanic or a game it should play like.
  • A file you attached isn't treated as a playable. Playables are HTML files. Export your playable as a single .html file and attach that.
