Edit images in a workflow
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Add the Edit Image node to change images with a prompt as one step of a workflow: clean-ups, variations and targeted changes that keep each image's composition.
Before you start
- Open the workflow on its canvas. Your changes are saved as a private draft until you publish; see Build and publish a workflow.
- The node needs at least one image to edit and a prompt. Mask and the number of editing references it accepts depend on the model.
Steps
Click Editors in the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas and drag Edit Image onto the canvas.
Drag from your images' output to the node's Image to Edit input.
Type the change in the node's Prompt, for example "Reskin her for the winter event: white fur trim, frost on the staff".
Select the node and click Run in the toolbar above it, which shows the cost. The node shows Running while it works.
When it finishes, the edited image shows on the node.
Result
The edited images appear on the node and under Runs and outputs, at each source image's size unless you set Size. Connect Generated Image onward, or pick it as a workflow output.
Production tips
- References or variants. Under Editing References, click Add group for images that show what you want. A group set to Use as references sends all its images with every edit. A group set to Use as variants runs the edit once per image in it, so four images with a three-image variant group gives twelve results.
- Say what to keep. Write the change and what must stay: "change the armour to winter fur, keep the pose, face and background".
- Batch a reskin. Feed every image of a set into Image to Edit with one prompt, and the whole set gets the same change in one run.
- Leave Size on Auto to keep each image's own size, so a mixed set stays mixed.
If something goes wrong
- The run fails asking for prompts or images. Both are required: connect an image to Image to Edit and type or connect a prompt.
- Some reference images seem ignored. Each model accepts a limited number of references, and extra ones are dropped. Use fewer, or split them across runs as variants.
- The mask does nothing. The model does not support masked edits. Pick one that does; the Mask input only appears for those models.
