Remove text from an image
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Clear the lettering from art, UI and store screenshots and rebuild what was behind it: strip the copy off a banner before you localize it, or clean a key art piece for a new campaign.
Before you start
The image is in a session, or in your library ready to add to one.
Each run costs Creative Units. The cost depends on the model you choose.
Steps
In the session, press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and choose Add asset….
Select the image, then click Select 1 asset. It lands on the board.
Hover the image on the board and click View to open it full-size. The viewer shows the file's details on the left and the Actions panel on the right.
Under Tools in the Actions panel, choose Remove text from image (scroll the list if you do not see it). The prompt starts as Remove the following text from the image:. Finish it with the text to remove, as it appears in the image, for example: STARTER BUNDLE, UNLOCK THE GUARDIAN & POWER UP!, SPECIAL PRICE, 1200, LIMITED OFFER!
Click Remove text.
Wait while the lettering is removed and the art behind it is rebuilt. The viewer stays open, and the new version appears beside the original.
Result
The image without its text opens in the viewer as a new file. The original is unchanged: both sit in the strip on the left of the viewer, newest first, so you can switch between them. The new file is also added to the session's board.
Production tips
List every line. Copy each piece of text exactly as it appears, including prices, numbers and small print. Text you leave out of the list may stay.
Keep some text on purpose. Name only the lines to remove, and say what must stay, for example the logo.
Build a localization master. Strip the copy once, keep the clean file as the master, and set each language's text over it in your editor so every market shares the same art.
Check the rebuilt areas at full size. Plaques, frames and patterns behind large text are redrawn. Zoom in before you ship; fix a small area with Inpaint image rather than running the whole image again.
Change the words instead of removing them? Use Edit text in an image.
If something goes wrong
Remove text will not run and the form says Finish the prompt where it leaves off. The prompt still ends at Remove the following text from the image:. Add the text to remove.
Some text is still there. Add the missing lines to the prompt exactly as they appear, and run it again on the result.
The art behind the text looks wrong. Run Inpaint image on the result and paint over that area, or try another model from the model menu.
You are out of Creative Units. The edit will not start. Top up from your workspace's billing settings, or ask a workspace admin.
