View your workspace as another role
Last updated: October 28, 2026
See the workspace as one of its roles does, to check what a role allows before you give it to anyone.
Before you start
- Viewing as a role is part of the Enterprise plan.
- Your role needs Manage workspace settings to open the Roles page and Change member roles to view the workspace as one. Admins hold both.
Steps
-
Click your workspace name at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Settings, and under People select Roles.
-
Open the menu at the end of the role's row and select View as role. The workspace reopens on Home, with a banner across the top of every page that names the role you are viewing as.
-
Work as a member with that role would. Anything the role does not grant is gone: a Creator, for example, has no Settings in the workspace menu.
-
Select Exit role view in the banner to go back to your own view.
Result
While the banner shows, you hold only the permissions that both your own roles and the chosen role grant, everywhere in the app, the agent included. Viewing a role broader than your own adds nothing. Only this workspace changes: your other workspaces stay as they are, and nobody else's view changes.
The view lasts until you select Exit role view or close the browser. What you do in it is real and done in your name: a generation spends Creative Units, an upload lands in the library, and the activity log records it as you.
Production tips
- Check a custom role before you assign it. Create the role, view the workspace as it, and walk the pages its members will use: the asset library, a project, a reference set, a workflow. Fix the role on the Roles page before anyone holds it.
- Answer "I can't see it" questions. When a member says a page, tool or reference set is missing, view the workspace as their role to see what they see, instead of granting more and hoping.
- Try the agent as the role. The agent answers with the role's permissions too, so a brief that needs training or a reference set it cannot use shows you where the role stops.
- Test in a quiet project. Actions in the view are real, so run trial generations where they will not clutter the team's work.
If something goes wrong
- There is no View as role in the row's menu. Your role needs Change member roles, and the workspace needs the Enterprise plan. While you are already viewing as a role, the option is hidden: exit first, then choose the next role.
- A page says you don't have permission to open it. The role you are viewing as cannot open that page, which is what its members would see. Select Exit role view to get back to it.
- The banner disappeared on its own. The role was archived or stopped being available while you viewed it, so the app returned you to your own view. Choose another role from the Roles page.
