Assemble a video on a timeline in a workflow

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Add the Video Editor node to arrange clips, images, audio and text on a timeline and render one finished video every run, such as a trailer cut from a workflow's generated shots.

Before you start

  • Open the workflow on its canvas. Your changes are saved as a private draft until you publish; see Build and publish a workflow.
  • Rendering costs Creative Units by resolution and length. A finished video can be up to two minutes long.

Steps

  1. Click Utilities in the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas, type Video Editor in Search nodes… and drag it onto the canvas.

  2. Drag each clip you want in the cut to the node's Videos input. Each appears as a row (Video 1, Video 2). Connect images and music to Images and Audios the same way.

  3. Select the node and click Open video editor in the toolbar above it. Your clips are in the media panel at the bottom left.

  4. Right-click each clip in the media panel and choose Add to timeline.

  5. Drag the clips on the timeline so each starts where the one before it ends. Select a clip to change its size, position and Content fit on the right.

  6. Close the editor, select the node and click Run.

  7. When it finishes, the rendered video shows on the node. Click Play to watch it.

Result

The rendered video appears on the node and under Runs and outputs. Connect Videos onward, or pick it as a workflow output.

Production tips

  • Connect what changes, upload what stays. Every clip on the timeline is filled from a node connected to the editor, on every run. Media you upload in the editor adds an input node on the canvas holding that file, so it stays the same each run: use uploads for logos, end cards and music.
  • One render per combination. Several videos on one input row each make their own render, and several rows multiply. Connect one value per row for a single cut.
  • Set the output first. Choose the aspect ratio, FPS and Max duration under Output settings before arranging clips.
  • Transitions between touching clips. Click + on the seam between two clips, or drag a transition from the media panel onto it. Moving a clip removes its transitions.

If something goes wrong

  • Items overlap on a track. Clips on one track cannot overlap. Move one to its own track.
  • Output dimensions must be divisible by 2. Use even width and height, or pick a preset aspect ratio.
  • An item has no file and no slot. A clip lost its media. Assign a file to it in the media panel, or delete the clip.
