Images
Formats. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, TIFF, BMP, SVG, PSD, HEIC and HEIF. Phone photos in HEIC or HEIF are converted to JPEG (or PNG when they have transparency) and the original is kept alongside; location data is not carried into the converted copy. A GIF uploads as a still image.
Preview. Images open in the viewer over a transparency checkerboard. Scroll to zoom up to 8x and drag to pan; double-click, or select View at 100%, to see the image pixel for pixel. When an image was made from another image, a Before / After slider compares the two.
PSD files open with a Layers panel: show and hide layers, toggle masks, group, merge, lock and rename them, then Save a copy. On a board, Explode layers spreads a PSD's layers out as separate images.
SVG files stay vector. You can apply Image adjustments to them; for every other image tool, select Rasterize first to bake the artwork to pixels.
What you can do.
- Image adjustments: brightness, contrast, saturation and temperature.
- Edit tools such as Prompt edit image, Remove image background, Upscale image, Reframe image, Erase object from image, Change camera angle, Split image into layers, Relight image, Restyle image, Vectorize image and Edit text in image.
- Turn into video and Turn into 3D model.
- With the agent: Rig character for Spine, Make texture tileable, Create character sheet, Create normal and height maps, and splitting or packing sprite sheets.
- Use as a reference in a generation, or as training images in a reference set.
Integrations. The Photoshop panel runs the image tools on your document, and Split layers returns real Photoshop layers. Figma runs the image tools in your file. In Blender, Image generation places the result on a plane, Texture applies a seamless texture as a material and Environment sets a panorama as the world background.
Video
Formats. MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV and OGV go into your library. Tools and the agent chat take MP4 and MOV.
Preview. Videos play inline with a scrubber, volume and fullscreen. The details panel lists duration, frame rate, codec and bitrate. When you use a video where a tool expects an image, the Frame tab lets you scrub to any frame (or jump to First, Middle or Last) and Extract it.
What you can do.
- Edit tools such as Prompt edit video, Upscale video, Reframe video, Extend video, Remove video background, Erase object from video, Lip sync video, Dub video, Insert scene into video, Relight video, Restyle video and Interpolate frames.
- Add subtitles to video: paste SRT subtitles in Subtitle text, or leave it blank to transcribe the clip's audio. Choose the font, colour and alignment.
- Add sound effects to video and Add music to video.
- Assemble clips, images, audio and text in the video timeline (Open in video timeline), with transitions, masks and aspect ratios from 9:16 to 21:9.
Integrations. The Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve panels generate and edit video in your edit; Premiere Pro can start from Use current frame. In Blender, Video generation plays on a plane in step with the timeline, and Restyle render turns your render into stylised video.
Audio
Formats. MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, M4A and WebM audio.
Preview. Audio plays over its waveform, with seek, volume, loop and playback speed from 0.5x to 2x. The details panel lists sample rate, channels and bit depth.
What you can do.
- Edit tools: Clean audio, Isolate voice, Separate audio stems, Extend audio, Inpaint audio and Restyle audio.
- Use clips as samples for Clone voice, then speak with the cloned voice in Create speech.
- Lay music and voice-over under a video in the video timeline, or drive Lip sync video.
To give the agent an audio file, attach it from your library; files dropped into the chat from your computer can be images, MP4 or MOV video, or HTML.
Integrations. The Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve panels generate music, sound effects and voice straight into your project.
3D models
Formats. GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, FBX and PLY. Upload a single self-contained file: a glTF or OBJ that points to separate texture or material files arrives without them, so export GLB when your model has textures. A PLY that holds a gaussian splat becomes a world (see below).
Preview. Models open in a 3D viewer on a studio floor. The 3D controls panel sets the lighting and shadows, and switches Material between Textured, Solid, Normals and Parts. Turn on Wireframe, Show skeleton for rigged models, Explode for models made of parts, and UV map to inspect the layout. Animated models play their clips with a Ground reference grid. The details panel lists faces, vertices, whether the mesh is watertight, bones and animations.
What you can do.
- Remesh for clean topology at a polygon budget, UV unwrap mesh and Segment mesh into parts.
- Retexture mesh with a prompt or a reference image.
- Rig mesh, then Animate mesh from a description or a reference video.
- Use a model as an image input: the Angle tab frames a view and Extracts it.
Integrations. The Blender add-on generates, retextures, remeshes, unwraps, segments, rigs and animates models in your scene; rigged results arrive with their armature and actions.
Worlds
Formats. Gaussian splats as SPZ, SOG, SPLAT, KSPLAT or splat PLY. A splat you upload becomes a world on its own.
Preview. Worlds open in an explorable viewer. Under Navigation, Orbit circles the scene and Walk moves you through it with WASD and drag to look, at eye height when the world has a collider. Large worlds offer Fast, Balanced and Full detail. Frame a shot in 16:9, 1:1 or 9:16 and select Capture view to save it as an image to your board or library.
What you can do. Generate a world from a prompt or an image with Create world, then capture views from it as key art, backgrounds or references.
Spine animations
Formats. A ZIP of a Spine export: a skeleton file (.json or .skel), its .atlas and the atlas pages (PNG, JPG or WebP), all in the same folder. A ZIP can hold several skeletons. Spine 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 exports preview in Layer.
Preview. The Spine player shows each skeleton on its own tab. Pick from the Animations and Skins lists, change the Speed, and turn on Debug overlays for bones, regions, meshes and bounds.
What you can do. The agent's Rig character for Spine tool rigs a PSD or an image of a character and animates it with the clips you describe, delivering a Spine ZIP and a preview video. Download the ZIP and import it into Spine or your engine's Spine runtime.
PBR materials
Formats. A ZIP of texture maps with a manifest.json at its root that lists each map. Materials made in Layer are already in this format. To bring your own, the manifest names each map's type (base color, normal, roughness, metalness, height, ambient occlusion, smoothness, or packed ORM and Unity masks), its color space, and for normal maps whether they are OpenGL or DirectX.
Preview. Materials render live on a Sphere, Cube or Plane that you can orbit. The Maps strip shows each map flat, labelled Base color, Normal (GL) or Normal (DX), Roughness, Metalness, Height, AO and so on. Tileable materials preview repeated so you can check the seams.
What you can do. Make a full set of maps from a prompt, a photo or a texture with Create PBR materials, and choose a tileable model for surfaces that repeat. For a single texture, Create normal and height maps with the agent.
Integrations. The Blender add-on's PBR material tool builds a Principled BSDF material from the ZIP and applies it to the selected objects, converting DirectX normal maps for you. Select the objects before you run it.
Fonts
Formats. TTF and OTF. Add one with Browse all or add a font in any font picker, paste a link to a font file, or add a family from Google Fonts.
Preview. Fonts open in a specimen viewer with Specimen, Sizes and Glyphs views. Type your own Sample text and adjust size, line height and letter spacing. Under Weights, set the default weight or download one; under Add weights, add the rest of the family from Google Fonts or from a URL.
What you can do.
- Set captions in Add subtitles to video in your own typeface. Some subtitle models accept Google Fonts only.
- Style text in the video timeline under Typography: weight, size, line height, letter spacing, italic and underline.
- Render text as an image with the Render Text workflow node or the agent, for logos, titles and UI copy.
- Attach brand fonts to a reference set so they travel with your studio's style.
The font picker lists your workspace's fonts, fonts shared with you and fonts we curate, with Pinned and Recently used at the top.
Model weights
Formats. SAFETENSORS. CKPT, PT and BIN files upload to your library but cannot be imported into a reference set; convert them to SAFETENSORS first.
What you can do. In a reference set, select Upload finetune to bring in a LoRA you trained elsewhere. In Import a trained model, choose its Base model and enter its Trigger word, then select Import model. The reference set then generates with your weights like any style trained in Layer. Weight files have no preview.
Playables
Formats. A single self-contained HTML file. Layer recognises it as a playable when it runs script with a canvas, WebGL, MRAID or an animation loop; other HTML is stored as a plain file.
Preview. Select play to run the playable in the viewer. The Tweaks panel exposes the playable's own settings, and Ask for a tweak sends a change to the agent. The details panel checks it against ad-network specs.
What you can do. Build one with the agent's Create playables, then export a package for each ad network you pick: Generic MRAID, AppLovin, Unity Ads, Moloco, Meta, Google App campaigns, Liftoff / Vungle, Pangle (TikTok) and Mintegral, with an optional CTA URL.
Other files
The agent can produce text documents such as Markdown, JSON and CSV. They open in a reader, with Markdown rendered and JSON indented, and Copy to clipboard. A ZIP that is neither a Spine export nor a PBR material is stored as is, with no preview. PDF, Lottie and LUT files are not supported.
Limits set by the model
Once a file is uploaded, each model sets its own limits on what it accepts: the smallest and largest image, the shortest and longest video or audio clip, and the longest prompt. They differ from model to model, so Layer checks them when you run the tool and tells you which one you hit, for example Image is too small. Resize, trim or shorten the input, or choose another model.
Download formats
Select one or more assets and choose Download as... from the right-click menu to pick a format. Download saves the original file as it is stored.
| Asset | Formats in Download as... |
|---|---|
| Images | PNG, JPEG, PSD |
| Video | MP4, WEBM, MOV, GIF, PNG Sequence |
| 3D models | Original file, OBJ with textures, OBJ, FBX |
| Worlds | Full world (.zip), or one part |
| Playables | One package per ad network |
For images you can resize, Remove background on export, and combine several into one layered file with Combine into single PSD. For video, choose the codec (H.264 or H.265) and compression, and the frame rate for GIF and PNG Sequence. OBJ with textures is a ZIP of the OBJ, its MTL and every texture map as PNG, without rigs or animation; FBX embeds its textures and keeps rigs and animation. Exporting with Remove background, and exporting a model as FBX, spend Creative Units; the dialog shows the cost before you download. Audio, fonts, Spine animations and PBR materials download in their original format.
