Replace and reorder the tools in your side panel

Last updated: October 20, 2026

Swap the tools on your session side panel's rail for the ones you use, and put them in the order you reach for them.

Before you start

  • The rail runs down the side panel's edge while a tool, an app or the agent is open; when the panel is collapsed, the same tools sit in its dock. Both have the right-click menu.
  • The rail shows the view you have selected. A view of your own changes as you edit it. A view of Layer's, such as The basics, stays as it is: your change is saved as a new view of your own, which you name first.

Steps

Replace a tool

  1. Open a tool in a session. Your view's tools run down the side panel's edge beside it.

  2. Right-click the tool you want to swap out.

  3. Select Replace tool…, then select the tool to put in its place.

  4. If the view is one of Layer's, name your new view and select Save view. A view of your own is updated without asking.

Reorder the tools

  1. Right-click any tool on the rail and select Reorder tools.

  2. Drag each tool to where you want it. With a keyboard, move to a tool with Tab, press Space to pick it up, move it with the arrow keys and press Space to drop it.

  3. Select Save order, the check mark at the top of the rail. To leave the order as it was, select Cancel reordering instead.

Result

The rail shows the new tool in the old one's place, or the tools in their new order. The change is saved in the view, so the side panel's tool list, its collapsed dock and the tools on Home all show the same arrangement, on any device you sign in on. A new view is selected for you and listed in the view picker above the tool list.

Production tips

  • Keep one view per kind of work, such as sprite cleanup, ad edits or 3D props, and switch between them in the view picker rather than changing one view back and forth.
  • Put the tools you use most at the top. The rail shows as many tools as fit the panel's height; the rest stay in the view, listed in the side panel's tool list.
  • Replacing swaps one tool for another. To add a tool without taking one away, or to add apps, open the view picker and select the pencil (Edit view) on the view's row.
  • Picking a tool that is already on the rail moves it into the replaced tool's place, so no tool is listed twice.

If something goes wrong

  • Right-clicking a tool opens the browser's menu. The rail's menu turns on once your saved views have loaded. Wait a moment and right-click again.
  • "Couldn’t save your tools menu". Your change still shows for this visit but did not reach your account. Make the change again; if it keeps failing, check your connection.
  • A tool you added is not on the rail. It is in the view but lower than the rail has room for, and Reorder tools moves only the tools the rail shows. Open the view picker, select Edit view and drag the tool up the list, or replace a rail tool with it.
  • You meant to change a view of Layer's. Layer's views never change. Switch back to it in the view picker, and delete the view you made there if you no longer want it.
