Groups & usage limits

Use groups to cap Creative Unit usage for sets of members — set a CU limit per period. Members in more than one group get the highest limit.

Groups let you organize members and control how Creative Units (CUs) are spent by capping consumption for a set of people. Find them under Settings → Team → Groups.

Create a group

Click Create Group and give it a name. Then open the group to set its usage limit and add members.

Set a usage limit

Open a group and, under Usage Limit, set a CU limit and a periodDaily, Weekly, or Monthly. That caps how many Creative Units the group's members can spend in each period. Use Edit usage limit to change it, or Remove usage limit to lift the cap entirely.

Add members to a group

In the group's Members section, Add a member by name or email — and remove them anytime. Everyone in the group is then governed by that group's usage limit.

💡 In more than one group? The highest limit wins. A member can belong to several groups. When their groups have different caps, Layer applies the most generous limit — so overlapping groups never accidentally tighten someone's access.

Groups also assign roles

Beyond usage limits, a group can assign a role to its members (the Role column on the Groups list). That lets you manage both permissions and CU caps for a whole team in one place — handy for onboarding a pod of new members at once.
