Enterprise questions
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Short answers to the questions studio security, legal and procurement teams ask before rolling out Layer, each with a link to the article or policy that covers it in full.
Intellectual property
Who owns what we generate?
You do. As between your studio and Layer, the customer owns all rights, title and interest in the output it generates, to the extent such rights exist under applicable law and subject to the Terms of Service. What you upload stays yours too. See Commercial use and ownership.
Can we use generated assets commercially?
Yes. The Terms let you use Layer for your lawful personal and commercial purposes. A model's own licence can add restrictions on what it generates, and you choose the model for every run. See Commercial use and ownership.
Are the reference sets and models we train ours?
Yes. Reference sets, workflows, LoRAs and other materials you create, configure or train in Layer count as your generated content under the Terms.
Data privacy
Do you train AI models on our data?
No. Customer data is never used to train foundation models. The Terms say Layer shall not train any models, and shall not permit any model provider to train, on your content or inputs. See How Layer handles your data.
Is our data kept separate from other customers'?
Yes. Each workspace's data stays in that workspace, with no mixing of data between customers. A studio with several teams or brands can run a parent workspace with a child workspace for each; see Parent and child workspaces.
Do you sign a data processing addendum?
When Layer processes personal data on your behalf, a data processing addendum between Layer and your studio governs it (Terms of Service, section 8). Contact our sales team to put one in place, or to review a master services agreement.
How long do you keep our data, and how do we delete it?
See How Layer handles your data for retention, and Delete your account or a workspace for deleting a workspace or an account.
Security and compliance
Is Layer SOC 2 certified?
Yes, SOC 2 Type II. Enterprise customers can get the full audit report under NDA as part of procurement; contact our sales team.
Can we see and export what our team did?
Yes. The audit log records who did what in the workspace and when, and an admin can export its events over the API. The audit log is part of the Enterprise plan. See Review your workspace's activity log and Export your workspace's events.
Access and identity
Which identity providers do you support for single sign-on?
Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta and any identity provider that supports SAML 2.0. See Set up single sign-on.
Can our directory add and remove people automatically?
Yes, with SCIM provisioning. See Set up user provisioning with SCIM.
Can we control what each person can do?
Yes. Every member has a role, and you can create custom roles and put people in groups that carry a role and a spending limit. See Invite teammates and set their roles, Create a custom role and Set a usage limit for a group.
Model governance
Can we limit which models our team uses?
Yes. Admins can turn individual models, or whole modalities such as video or 3D, on and off for a workspace, and stop newly added models from switching on by themselves. See Choose which models your team can use.
Billing
Do you charge per seat?
No. Layer bills on usage in Creative Units, so adding people to a workspace costs nothing on its own. Enterprise agreements are agreed with our sales team. See Creative Units and layer.ai/pricing.
