A tour of your workspace

Get your bearings in Layer — the sidebar, your chats and boards, the Library, models, and where to find everything.

A quick orientation so you know where everything lives. Layer is organized around a left sidebar — your map — and a main area where you actually work. Here's what each part is for.

The sidebar: your map

Down the left side you'll find:

  • Home — your launchpad; start a new creation here

  • Library — every asset you've made

  • Trends — see what's possible and get inspired

  • Starred — models and items you've pinned for quick access

  • Projects — group related chats and assets for a bigger piece of work

  • Chats — your sessions; each one is a conversation plus its board

  • Base Models — the AI models available in your workspace

  • Help & Resources — guides and support (you're reading one now)

At the very bottom: your workspace name (click it to switch workspaces or open settings) and your Creative Units (CU) balance.

💡 Use the Search icon at the top to jump to any chat or asset quickly — handy once your workspace fills up.

Chats: your conversations and boards

Most of your time is spent in a chat. Each chat is a session with two halves: the conversation on the right, where you talk to the Agent, and the board (a visual canvas) on the left, where your results appear and can be arranged. Your recent chats are always listed in the sidebar.

The Library: everything you've made

The Library collects every asset across your workspace — images, video, 3D, and audio — saved automatically. Search it, or filter by type, label, or creator to find exactly what you need.

Base Models: the engines

Base Models is where you can browse the AI models available to you, each with its own strengths, speed, and quality. You usually don't need to choose one — the Agent picks a suitable model for what you're making — but this is where you can explore them or star favorites for quick access.

Trends: get inspired

Trends is a feed of creative trends and examples to spark ideas when you're not sure what to make next.

Projects: organize bigger work

When a piece of work spans many chats and assets — a character, a campaign, a deliverable — group it into a Project. Create one from the Projects section in the sidebar (the + or New project), then assign chats to it to keep everything together.

Settings & your balance

The bottom-left of the sidebar shows your workspace and CU balance. Click your workspace name to switch workspaces or open workspace settings — where admins manage members, roles, billing, and more.
