Vote on the session board

Ask the room to pick: start a vote on the session board, and everyone stamps the assets they like, with the tally on each asset as it happens.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Select the avatars at the top of the board and choose Start a vote. Every asset on the board gets a vote target above its corner, on every teammate's screen.

  2. As your teammates vote, their stamps land on the assets they picked, and the number beside the stamps counts the votes.

  3. Click the target on the asset you like to cast your vote (Vote for this), then pick the stamp it shows: Star, Fire, Ship it, Look at this, Nailed it or Not sure. You can vote for as many assets as you like, once each.

  4. To give the room a deadline, open the avatars again, choose Start a timer and pick 1m, 2m, 3m or 5m. The countdown shows at the top of the board for everyone.

Result

Each asset carries its stamps and its count. Hover the stamps to see who voted and with which stamp. The votes are saved on the board: they are still there after everyone leaves, and the next person to open the session sees the result.

Change or clear votes

Take back your vote

Click your vote on the asset again (Remove your vote).

Stop the timer

Select Stop timer on the countdown. When time runs out it reads Time's up; nothing else changes, and the room still decides. Restart timer in the avatar panel starts a new one.

End a vote nobody has voted in

Until the first vote is cast, the avatar panel offers End vote, which takes the targets off the board.

Reset votes

Once votes are on the board, the targets stay so the room can keep voting. To start the next round from a clean board, choose Reset votes in the avatar panel, then confirm with the button it turns into, which counts what it will take, for example Clear 3 votes for everyone. Anyone in the session can reset, and there is no undo.

Production tips

  • Vote, then label. Once the room has picked, label the winners (for example approved) so the decision is findable in the Asset Library after the votes are reset. See Label your assets and filter by label.
  • Say why with the stamp. Every stamp counts as one vote, but the stamp carries the reason: Ship it for a pick that is ready, Look at this or Not sure to raise one for discussion.
  • Present without the marks. Press Shift+C to hide comments and vote stamps for a clean board, and again to bring them back.
  • Keep the context. If a pick needs changes, pin a comment on it and mention the artist; see Comment on assets and mention teammates.

If something goes wrong

  • A message says you can't start a vote because you're not connected to this session. The live connection did not open, so the room cannot share a vote. Reload the page and try again.
  • There is no Start a vote. The board already carries votes, so the targets are already on. Vote, start a timer, or reset the votes.
  • The stamps disappeared. Someone reset the votes, or the board's markup is hidden: press Shift+C to show it.
