Connect a service to your workspace

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Connectors link your Layer workspace to the services your studio already works in: Miro boards, Google Drive, Slack, and your ad accounts. An admin connects each one once, and everyone in the workspace can use it from then on.

Before you start

  • You need a role that can manage workspace settings, such as Admin. Without it, Workspace Settings does not appear in the workspace menu.
  • You need an account on the other service that can approve access for your team: a Miro account on the team's board, the Google account that owns the Drive, a Slack workspace admin, or an ad account user.

Steps

  1. Open the workspace menu, choose Workspace Settings, then select Connectors under Integrations. Yours lists the services already connected; Discover lists the rest, grouped as Advertising & UA, Creative intelligence, Files & design and Workspace.

  2. Select Discover and click Connect on the service you want.

  3. For a service you sign in to (Miro, Google Drive, Google Ads, Meta, Slack, TikTok Ads), click Continue with and the service's name. A window opens on the service's own sign-in page: sign in and approve access for the workspace, and the window closes by itself.

  4. For a service that uses a key (AppLovin, Chartboost, Sensortower), paste the key or credentials into the dialog. Each field says where to find the value in the other service. Click Connect and the service's name.

Result

Layer confirms with Connected to and the service's name. The service moves to Yours, where its row reads Connected with the time of its last sync. What the connection gives the team depends on the service; each has an article of its own, listed below.

Link a project to a connector

Some connectors work per project: a project points at one Miro board, one Google Drive folder or one AppLovin app, so each team works against its own.

  1. Open the project, then click the Project settings gear next to its name in the sidebar.

  2. In the Connectors card, click Link workspace connectors (or the + button when the project already has a link).

  3. Choose the connector and pick the board, folder or app. Confirm with Link board, Link this folder or Link app.

Anyone who can edit the project can link it. Only an admin can connect the service itself; when it is not connected yet, the dialog says Ask a workspace admin to connect this provider.

Reauthorize or disconnect a service

  • Reauthorize. When a service's access lapses (an expired token, or access revoked on the service's side), its row shows why and a Reauthorize button. Click it and approve access again; nothing linked to it is lost.
  • Disconnect. Open the … menu on the row, choose Disconnect, and confirm. Sync stops at once. Everything already imported into Layer stays in Layer, and you can reconnect at any time.

Production tips

  • Connect with a shared studio account where the service allows it. A connection made with one person's account stops working when that person leaves. A team or service account on the other side keeps it alive.
  • Link each project to its own board or folder. One board or folder per feature, campaign or game keeps imports and exports from landing in someone else's work.
  • Check Yours after a security review. Rotating keys or revoking app access on the other service shows up here as a row that needs reauthorizing.

If something goes wrong

  • Your browser blocked the window. Layer says so. Allow pop-ups for layer.ai and click Continue with again.
  • The window closed before you finished. Click Continue with again and complete the approval on the service's page.
  • The service didn't accept the credentials. Copy the key again from the place the field names; a key from the wrong account or with a missing character is the usual cause.
  • The row says Connection started, not confirmed yet. The approval did not finish. Click Connect and approve it again.
