How to Make a Storyboard

A guide for how to use reference images and a strong prompt to generate a multi-image storyboard for your art concept.

In Layer, you can easily build multi-frame storyboards for your art concepts.

First, you will need to add your source and reference images.

  • Source images are images you intend to edit.

  • Reference images are images you want to guide the generations and edits.

Before building your storyboard, we recommend you first build a Reference Set, which is a named, reusable library of references that you point Layer at to keep generations consistent. Once created, simply @mention the name of your reference set to include it in future prompts.

Once you've added your images, it's time to add your prompt. This should be detailed with which characters or objects you want included (don't forget to include your @mention for your reference set), and describe the story across the images.

Include the numbers of images for your storyboard, and voila! Layer will create your storyboard in minutes.

Know exactly what ratio aspects and models you want to use down to the last detail? You can add all of these images and prompts to the reference form as shown in the video.

Not as sure about the model to use or what looks best? That's exactly what our creative agent is for. Add your prompts there with your @mentions and watch the agent make all the best selections for you.
